Please fill out the application form for the 2023-2024 Nature Play program. Please note that the minimum age to participate is 5 years old. One tent can hold 6 people (2-3 adults and 3-4 children). 

Applicants will be selected at least two months prior to the date chosen for the program. There will be a wait list for all dates. Two months prior an informational email will be sent out. There is no need to follow up.

FAQ's

Will there be any electricity available at the campsite?

The only outlets that are available are in the bathrooms. We recommend bringing battery powered items (lights, air mattress pumps, and a portable phone charger.)

Are activities optional or mandatory?

We encourage to participate in all activities to receive the best experience from the weekend. However, accommodations can be made ahead of time.

What activities will we be doing?

We will go on day and night hikes, a cypress dome hike (slough slog), and canoeing. All activities are tentative due to weather and water levels.

Are there bathrooms nearby? Showers available?

There are men's and women's bathrooms at the campsite; however, no showers. A shower voucher will be given to all participants to be able to shower at Long Pine Key Campground.

What are my options for cooking?

There will be a wood-fire fire pit, a BBQ, and some propane stoves you can cook food on.

How do I store my food?

There are bear lockers to put dry food in and a storage room where coolers can be stored

Can I keep my car next to my camping site?

There is limited space in the camping area, however the cars will not be far from the site.

What is your weather policy?

The program proceeds, rain or shine! So make sure your group comes prepared for all weather conditions. There are no refunds for inclement weather.

What should I pack?
  • Refillable water bottle – extremely important! Please do not bring single-use plastic bottles. 

  • Face masks 

  • Closed-toe shoes and long pants that can get wet for slough slog 

  • Sleeping bag, blanket, pillows 

  • Bug spray 

  • Sunscreen 

  • Food and snacks (make sure ALL food is secured inside a container – raccoons WILL find it) 

  • Flashlights or headlamps 

  • Hat 

  • Towels 

  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toilet paper) 

  • Garbage bags 

  • Zip-lock bags or waterproof bags for cameras and phones 

  • Cooking supplies for grill or campfire

Do I need to bring a tent?

No, Everglades National Park and Zoo Miami will be providing the tents.
