Envisioning the Future

Our vision touches every aspect of the Zoo—exhibits, animal care facilities, a special exhibit targeted at children, conservation, and educational components. For the immediate future, we are focused on a vitally important set of initiatives, which we intend to accomplish through philanthropic support of Zoo Miami Foundation from our many friends.

Some BIG things are coming to Zoo Miami as part of our master planning! Our Connecting for Life campaign is in full swing, and your support is making some very exciting new projects possible. Zoo Miami is a special place. We are a source of entertainment, and the collective conscience for creatures across the globe. You can visit simply to see majestic animals you'll never see in the wild, or you can take the time to learn how all of us share this enormous responsibility for protecting all the living creatures that we share our planet with. We hope you take a few minutes to see the lineup of amazing projects that will be coming soon to YOUR Zoo Miami!

Tiger Expansion Project

Sumatran Tiger Exhibit

The roar of tigers will reverberate louder than ever at Zoo Miami as we unveil an expanded and upgraded Sumatran Tiger exhibit that will enthrall visitors of all ages with up close and personal encounters. These iconic animals are one of the centerpieces of the Zoo’s wildlife ambassador collection and serve as a reminder of the fragility of their existence, with only a few hundred left in the wild.  With new features, a viewing pagoda for face-to-face experiences and an expanded footprint that will allow for additional tigers, we hope that this unforgettable experience will remind us all that we must protect these and all wildlife for future generations.

Funded Projects

  • Conservation Action Center

The Conservation Action Center offers guests an engaging indoor interactive experience designed to connect guests to wildlife conservation efforts in a fun and inspiring way. Combining hands-on games with impactful visuals, this new state-of-the-art exhibit features some of the many conservation efforts being done by Zoo Miami around the world.

  • Sea Turtle Hospital

Zoo Miami’s newest conservation effort is helping to save sea turtles! Our local waters are home to keystone species like endangered loggerhead, green, Kemp’s ridley, hawksbill and leatherback sea turtles. The new hospital allows us to provide immediate medical attention to injured or ill sea turtles nursing them back to health, and ideally, return them to the ocean.

  • Animal Hospital

We are building a world-class, 25,000 sq. ft., $26M hospital that will allow our animal science team to provide the highest standard of care for more than 3,000 animals with the latest, cutting edge technology. Step inside to see more details of what this huge undertaking means for Zoo Miami, the amazing wildlife under our care, and wildlife from around the globe.
