SPOOKTOBER AT MIAMI METROZOO, OCTOBER 10-31

Celebrate Halloween at the Zoo with four events:
    1. Dr. Wilde’s Screamatorium from October 10-31
    2. The Monster Masquerade on October 17
    3. Spooky Zoo Night on October 30
    4. MetroBoo! on October 30 & 31
MIAMI, FL – August 27, 2009 – Enjoy a host of new Halloween festivities during Spooktober at Miami Metrozoo.  If you dare, enter Dr. Wilde’s Screamatorium, the zoo’s first full scale haunted house, presented by Flore de Lisa, at Dr. Wilde’s World from October 10-31.  If dressing up and partying is your thing, show up to the inaugural adult costume party, The Monster Masquerade benefiting the Zoological Society of Florida (ZSF) on October 17.  The entire family can also enjoy Halloween at the zoo at night during the first ever Spooky Zoo Night on October 30 and during the daytime at the annual MetroBoo! on October 30 and 31. 

Dr. Wilde’s Screamatorium

Dr. Wilde’s Screamatorium is guaranteed to scare when it makes its debut at Miami Metrozoo’s Dr. Wilde’s World on October 10th.  This 7,000 square foot haunted house will terrify visitors with horror scenes depicting the living dead, graveyards, butcher shops, deceased creatures and more, all to the music of departed rock legends, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.   With an admission cost of $5 per person, this mansion of mayhem will remain open through October 31st.  The Screamatorium may not be suitable for younger children. 

The Monster Masquerade

The shadows come to life and the haunting begins as the ZSF welcomes costumed adult monsters and creatures 21 and over to the biggest and darkest Halloween party in South Florida, The Monster Masquerade at Dr. Wilde’s Screamatorium on Saturday, October 17 from 8:00 PM to midnight. Come out to where the wild things are and party in the dark with real spooky creatures while enjoying free witches brew and Dr. Wilde’s open bars, food from the lab including  troll fingers to feed your hunger, costume contests that will have you dying for awesome prizes and music that will keep the zombies dancing all night long. When night falls and the wild calls, The Monster Masquerade at Miami Metrozoo will be the only place to be.
 
The Monster Masquerade is $65 per person ($50 for ZSF members).  Groups of five or more can call for more details on pricing.  Proceeds will benefit the ZSF’s mission of wildlife conservation and education.  Anyone that purchases a ticket before October 10 will be entered into a drawing to win one of two packages including a Family Membership to Miami Metrozoo and a VIP Behind-the-Scenes Tour.  Tickets will be available at the ZSF office or Click here to purchase online

“Spooky Zoo Night,”

“Spooky Zoo Night,” a new after hours family event, will take place on Friday, October 30 from 7 PM – 11 PM.  At $10.95 per person ($9.95 for ZSF members), the evening will include admission to Dr. Wilde’s Screamatorium, the haunted house at Dr. Wilde’s World, spooky tram rides, ghoulish carousel rides, scary movies, chilling story-telling at the Amphitheatre around a fire pit, and “thriller” dance lessons at the Aviary Plaza.  Candy stations, roving street theatre, and encounters with creepy critters such as tarantulas, scorpions and snakes, will add unsettling excitement to the pathways.  A costume parade will culminate this Halloween Eve event.

MetroBoo!

MetroBoo! returns to Miami Metrozoo on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Included with Zoo admission, families and kids ages 12 and under are invited to trick-or-treat in costumes, participate in costume contests, watch special performances, make Halloween crafts, see our wild animals get their Halloween goodies, and more!  Music and games with fun prizes will be provided by Radio Disney AM 990 and The Coast 97.3 FM.
