MIAMI, FL May 21, 2009- From adorable baby animals to summer savings passes and summer camp, Miami Metrozoo is offering guests an assortment of summer fun. Bank of America Zoofari Summer Camp, which begins on June 15th invites kids ages 4-13 to partake in fun-filled learning adventures through July 31st. Our newest baby additions include red kangaroos, warthogs, and bantengs. A special Summer Savings Pass is also being offered to help save our guests money during these tough economic times.
From 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday-Friday, Bank of America Zoofari Summer Camp offers children live animal presentations, special zookeeper talks, the preparation of special treats and toys for the animals and more for $180 per week for non-members and $160 per week for Zoological Society of Florida members. These weekly themed camps cover topics like animal communication, animal eyesight and working at the zoo. Special discounts and extended care are available. Pre-registration is required by noon on the Wednesday preceding the camp week the child will attend.
No one should miss a chance to see our Zoo babies! We have adorable baby red kangaroos. Check them out in the Australian lobe of our Zoo. We also have young bantengs, which are wild cattle found in Southeastern Asia, and Metrozoo’s version of the three little pigs- African warthogs! Visitors will soon also get the chance to meet two new adult orangutans that have arrived at our Zoo.
If you’re looking to save some cash this summer while discovering your own backyard, then the Summer Savings Pass is for you. Since May 15th, visitors to Miami Metrozoo, Miami Seaquarium or Wannado City, who buy a regularly priced admission, get the option of buying a summer savings pass for $19.95 per person plus tax. This pass grants the holder unlimited admission to all three parks through August 30th. ZSF members or annual pass holders can buy the pass for only $9.95 per person plus tax. There are plenty of other things to do at the Zoo this summer. You can hop on the air-conditioned Monorail for an aerial view of the Zoo, take a narrated Tram Tour or jump on a Safari Cycle. If you want to keep cool, play in one of our water play areas or in our cool misters. The jumping jets at Amazon & Beyond are everyone’s favorite these days. Don’t miss The Wildlife Show at the Amphitheater three times daily or traveling to the Amazon during a Quetzal’s World show. Quetzal’s World is performed on weekdays at 11:15 am & 12:15 pm and on weekends at 11:15 am and 1:15 pm at Amazon and Beyond’s main stage. Meet Nickelodeon’s favorite animal rescuer Diego at Amazon & Beyond on weekdays at 11:00 am & 3:00 pm and on weekends at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm & 3:00 pm.
