Great Egg Safari: April 3 & 4, 2010

On April 3 & 4, celebrate the season during Miami Metrozoo’s Great Egg Safari sponsored by Baptist Medical Plaza at Country Walk.  From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., kids ages 12 & under can enjoy continuous egg hunts, animal egg safaris, music, bounce houses, and games. 

Enjoy “Rhythm is Going to Get You” starring Steve Gryb, Radio Disney AM 990, with games and prizes for kids 12 and under.
 
Children aren’t the only ones who like getting treats at Easter – so do animals – so make sure to watch the animals open their specially-made treats.
 
Animal treats schedule during Egg Safari April 3 - 4:
 
11:30 a.m. African lions will be given nests of eggs which consist of coconuts painted like   Easter eggs on a bed of hoofed stock scented hay.
12:00 p.m.           Asian small clawed otters will enjoy hardboiled Easter eggs.
12:30 p.m.  Meerkats will play with and eat their papier maché Easter eggs and hardboiled eggs.
1:45 p.m.  Chimpanzees will play and gobble up with their treat-filled papier maché Easter eggs.
2:00 p.m. Asian bears will receive Easter baskets filled with treats.
3:00 p.m.  African elephants will get Easter grass (Napier grass) and hunt for “eggs” made of papier maché and coconuts painted in pastel colors.
3:30 p.m.  Red river hogs, warthogs and warty pigs will have a blast with their Easter grass (coastal hay) with bugs and treats scattered throughout the pile.
 
On April 3, zoo guests will enjoy Caribbean, reggae, cumbia, and salsa sounds by the Jungle Boys.  The smooth world music of the Jorge Alfano Jazz Trio will entertain visitors April 4.  Both events will take place at Amazon & Beyond and are included with zoo admission.
